Burning Lead And Ink

Brushwork

by Jonas Diego

The Masters of Brush

It is interesting to note that the old masters of Philippine Komiks used quills and brushes exclusively to draw which was amazing.

Notable artists who used brushes in the illustration work were Francisco Coching, Rudy Florese, and Hal Santiago. You can check out more of their work online on Gerry Alanguilan’s Online Philippine Komiks Museum. Click here.

This Yoda sketch took me about 15-30 minutes to do (I was on a Star Wars marathon the other day).

The Brush I Use

I used Pentel Brushpens to draw before but I had difficulty controlling the flow of ink.
