We had the opportunity to ask Sen. Villar a lot of questions especially about issues close to our own individual interests. Of course, mine was about the art industry particularly his plans for the Philippine Comic Book Industry and the Anti-Obscenity Bill that he authored.

Let’s start with Komiks.

The Philippine Comic Book Industry

I asked him if he has any specific plans regarding the Philippine Comic Book Industry.

Sen. Manny Villar said that he loves the old Komiks especially Mars Ravelo’s Captain Barbell as a youngster. He even recounted stories of him checking out the Komiks rentals at nearby sari-sari stores in his younger days.

As far as specific plans however all he mentioned was that what we need is a 6 years sustained economic growth and foster competition.
